This error occurs when something on your computer or network is preventing StudioTax from communicating with the CRA NETFILE server.
What to check
Firewall, VPN, or antivirus software
A firewall, VPN, or antivirus program may be blocking StudioTax from connecting to the internet. Check whether any of these are active and try temporarily disabling them to see if that resolves the issue.
Restart your computer
If you cannot identify anything blocking the connection, try restarting your computer and filing again.
Run StudioTax as Administrator (Windows only)
On Windows, running StudioTax with elevated permissions can resolve connection issues. To do this:
- Right-click the StudioTax icon on your desktop or in the Start menu.
- Select Run as Administrator from the context menu.
- Try filing your return again.
