DocumentationFrequently Asked QuestionsLicenseHow Much Does a StudioTax License Cost?

A StudioTax license costs $17.50 and allows you to file up to 10 returns for the current tax season. If you need to file more than 10 returns, you can purchase additional licenses. For more details on return limits, see How Many Returns Can I Create?

A new license is required each year. A license purchased for one tax year cannot be used for a different tax year.

Free Use Cases

StudioTax is free — no license or activation required to Netfile and print your returns — for the following:

  • Northern residents — individuals living in the Northwest Territories (NT), Yukon (YT), or Nunavut (NU).
  • Low-income filers — individuals whose total income (line 15000 of the T1 General) is $20,000 or less, after excluding lines 11600 and 14700 from that total.

Linked returns: When two returns are linked together, both are evaluated as a unit. The combined income limit is $40,000.

Refund Policy

A 30-day money-back guarantee applies to unactivated licenses only. Once a license has been activated, it is non-refundable.
