Unlike the desktop version of StudioTax, the mobile app is distributed and updated exclusively through the Apple App Store (iOS and iPad) and Google Play (Android). Updates are managed by these platforms — there is no in-app update wizard.
The quickest way
The easiest way to update on either platform is to simply search for “StudioTax” in the App Store or Google Play. If an update is available, you will see an Update button next to the app — tap it to install the latest version right away.
Updating on iOS or iPad (App Store)
- Open the App Store on your device.
- Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.
- Scroll down to see pending updates.
- Find StudioTax in the list and tap Update, or tap Update All to update all your apps at once.
You can also enable automatic updates in Settings → App Store → App Updates so StudioTax always stays up to date without any manual steps.
Updating on Android (Google Play)
- Open the Google Play Store on your device.
- Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.
- Select Manage apps & device.
- Find StudioTax under the Updates available section and tap Update.
You can also enable automatic updates by opening the StudioTax app page in Google Play, tapping the three-dot menu, and selecting Enable auto-update.
Why keeping the app updated matters
Each year, StudioTax releases updated versions of the mobile app to support the new tax year, incorporate the latest CRA requirements, and deliver bug fixes and improvements. Always make sure you are running the latest version before filing your return.
